Don't eat it. . .ever!

Last week, my little sister came to me with what she thought was the most wonderful thing ever made. Upon looking at it more closely, I saw a small “Rolly Pollie.” These little things are also known as pill bugs or woodlice, since they eat wood. I found that these names, except “Rolly Pollie,” were not correct since they are actually neither bugs nor lice. They are Crustaceans, part of the lobster family!

The moment my sister put this little creature into my hand, it rolled into a ball. She advised me not to eat it (“Never, ever, ever,” she said). As I looked at it, I noticed that an armadillo does the same thing. The armadillo, interestingly enough, is not a member of the rodent family, contrary to what I had heard. They are part of the family Xnearthra; their closest relatives are the sloth and the anteater. They are in no way related to the Crustacean family. To escape predators, rolling into a ball is their only chance. I also noticed that they look something alike as well. They both have many bands on them to protect them. I then thought, “Wow, it’s just further evidence that there has to be a Creator, and a caring one at that.” He cared enough about these small things to give them protection. He left the same fingerprint on them both.
