Design

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:20

Over the weekend, I took my two sons into the deep woods of East Texas for a manly outing of hunting and fishing. My father-in-law, Roland Scroggins, came along to serve as guide. What a good sport he is! As we traipsed noisily around the woods, he knew we had no chance of hurting the turkey population, but we did see some beautiful scenery. I noticed the bees pollinating the flowers blooming across the green hills. And a close look at them reminded me of…a fly’s eye. No kidding, the similarity is amazing. See for yourself!

The amount and variety of animal and plant life we saw was really staggering. And what amazed me is that everything seemed to fit into place. As all the instruments in an orchestra work together to fill out a harmony, so the teeming hills seemed to be pulsing in an elaborate dance. And as all the instruments in the symphony are designed with a purpose, so too the life we saw—from the smallest detail—went straight to its designed purpose. It is remarkable to look at the incredible design of creation!

When you think about it, design assumes two fundamental conditions: a Designer and a purpose. As followers of Christ, we celebrate the Designer. And, while a design can be used in various ways, it’s in following the purposes devised by the Designer that creation can be truly appreciated. So, our job is to seek to increasingly understand the purpose the Designer has for us, his created. Living in such a way will transform the way we interact with our children, care for the environment, strategize for our careers, and plan our free time.

About
Designed on Purpose

This website exists to catalogue evidence that a Creator designed this universe. The evidence shows up where one would least expect and the similarities are, well, remarkable.
