There is fundamental research going on in the field of particle acceleration that is helping scientists understand the state of the universe at its conception. What they are finding is that materials behave differently than they expected. Elements once thought to be basic and immutable (like gold, for instance, as shown above) can and do change entirely. It’s sort of like alchemy in reverse! We take your gold and give you quark-gluon plasma! The similarity of these images obtained from this collision and the transverse muscles of the iris are amazing to me! And the implication of research being done at particle accelerators is mind boggling: everything that exists is subject to radical change.

This sort of elemental transformation was happening when the universe began, and it will happen again. We cannot fully understand the mysteries of the world into which we are born, and so the Bible uses metaphor, as the best teachers often do. The Bible speaks metaphorically, but unmistakably, about radical physical change. And who better to predict change than the author of design himself?
